Collective Investment Contract

A way of investing money together with a large number of people that may not be feasible for an individual investor to participate in a wider range of investments. Often referred to as managed funds, (unit) investment trusts, mutual funds or simply funds (note: mutual fund can have a specific meaning in some states within the US). Globally large markets have developed around collective investment, accounting for a substantial portion of all trading on major stock exchanges.
