Basel Accord

Banking supervision accords (recommendations on banking laws and regulations) issued by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), based at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel, Switzerland. The Accord was agreed by the central banks of the world who are members of the BIS. The first Accord (“Basel I”) was approved in 1988 and Basel II in 2004.
