Issuers

The central government and monetary authorities comprise a large share of bond issuance in Thailand. Corporate issuers represent a small share of the bond market, comprising approximately 20% of total bonds outstanding as of December 2008.

Government

The central government, state agencies, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and private corporations are all active issuers in the Thai bond market. The central government and state-owned enterprises are the largest bond issuers.

Corporate

The Thai bond market also has a wide range of corporate issues that includes asset-backed securities. Underwriters who assist in bond issuance are important market participants. The Thai Bond Market Association (ThaiBMA) link below leads to a list of the market’s top underwriters.

Supranational

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) issued its 5-year THB-denominated bonds (THB4 billion) in May 2005. This was the first supranational issue in the Thai bond market.
