Retail investors can buy or sell SGS over the Internet through fundsupermart.com, a Secondary Dealer. It administers the buy/sell process including coupon payments of SGS bonds that were previously issued in the primary market. It also provides price quotes for SGS.
SGS Electronic Applications (SGS eApps) is an Internet-based facility that offers online interaction between Primary Dealers and the MAS, including SGS auction transactions. Primary Dealers can access SGSeApps at the SGS web site.
Basic bond calculators illustrate the various relationships between price, yield, coupon rates, and maturity dates, utilizing the mathematical pricing conventions common in the market.
Users can input the details of a security, such as yield, coupon, and maturity to derive market price; or they can input market price, coupon, and maturity date to derive yields.
Calculator results are purely indicative and should never be used as a replacement for the actual prices of securities obtained from the marketplace, as specific security conventions may vary from market conventions.
To participate in the SGS auction, investors must complete an official Application for Book-Entry Government Securities. A link to the pdf form is provided at the link below.
This Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) site offers up-to-date, comprehensive information on SGS which includes a guide to SGS primary dealer operations. MAS also published A Guide to Singapore Government Securities in 2004 for retail investors.
