The Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) has issued 3- and 5-year government treasury bonds to the public since 1993. Total issuance at the end of November 2008 was MMK252.8 billion. The bonds have annual interest rates of 10.5% and 11.0%, respectively.

The Myanmar Accountancy Council (MAC) has several hundred members and has created a Myanmar Accounting Standards Committee to establish accounting standards for the country.

MAC is a member of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA).
