Accounting rules for all businesses in the Lao PDR are based on the Enterprise Accounting Law (1990). Chapter 9 of the Business Guide, which is published by the Department of Domestic and Foreign Investment (DDFI), discusses accounting requirements in Lao PDR.

The Government is committed to improving its accounting systems, as stated in the August 2003 Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies.

The Lao PDR’s Bankruptcy Law is currently under review.
