Clearing and Settlement Systems
Settlement systems in the Republic of Korea are governed by the Securities and Exchange Act of 1974, which is linked below.
The Korea Securities Depository (KSD) is the country's sole central securities depository and conducts clearing and settlement of securities. KSD is under the supervision of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (MOSF), the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), and the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).
The Bank of Korea (BOK) administers the payments system. BOK uses a real-time gross settlement system known as the BOK Financial Wire Network (BOK-WIRE).
