Global rating agencies have assigned the above long-term foreign currency ratings for Japan. Links to the home pages of these agencies are provided below.

There are two major credit rating agencies in Japan, the Japan Credit Rating Agency, Ltd. (JCR) and Rating and Investment Information, Inc. (R&I). JCR rates long-term and short-term debts including asset-backed securities. R&I's operations consist of three main businesses, the rating business (its key business), investment evaluation, and information services.
