The current legislative framework for corporate governance in Indonesia is incorporated under the Indonesian Company Law of 1995.

In August 1999, the National Committee for Corporate Governance was created by the Government to develop best-practice guidelines and a code of corporate governance.

The Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) and the Surabaya Stock Exchange (SSX) implemented new corporate governance regulations for publicly listed companies specifically outlining reporting standards.
